Mental Health Therapist

About
Lisa Locke
I am a Nêhiyaw-iskwêw from the George Gordon First Nation located in Treaty 4 territory in Saskatchewan. I spent the majority of my career working in business administration roles until I completed my degree in Indigenous Social Work. Walking with others on their healing journey is my true calling and I have been guided by Creator to this path. I am a wife to my best friend, with whom I am grateful to share this life with and together, we have six children. I enjoy sewing, beading and other activities that allow my creativity to flourish

My Approach
My approach to therapy comes from combining Indigenous worldviews with other modalities of therapy such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Strengths-based therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Narrative Therapy. I work through a trauma-informed and an anti-oppressive lens, helping clients to create balance as a foundation for healing. I am educated in how the body can store our trauma so I assist clients in understanding this while providing strategies to move this out and achieve empowerment.
My Specialties
My specialties include mental health and addictions, residential /day schools and intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, stress, relationships, childhood abuse/trauma, self esteem, abuse: physical, sexual, emotional, and self harm or self injury.

Our sessions are a sacred ceremony that I am honoured to attend, and the safe space we create will be one where clients can put down anything that is holding them back from living their purpose. I hope to walk with my clients on their healing journey as they discover their own light and power within.
